LDP President and Japanese Prime Minister Meets with Song Tao

Tokyo, August 8th--Shinzo Abe, President of Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Prime Minister of Japan met here on the afternoon with Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Song expressed that President Xi Jinping recently met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany not long ago, during which they exchanged in-depth views on promoting development of relations between the two countries and stressed the political principles and directions that both sides should follow. The CPC is willing to make joint efforts with the two ruling parties in Japan, give play to the characteristics of inter-party communication and political leading advantages of the ruling parties, protect the political base of relations between China and Japan, guide the two peoples to have a right awareness of each other and propel exchanges and cooperation within the “Belt and Road” framework.

Abe congratulated on the successful convening of the meeting of Japan-China ruling parties exchange mechanism and made positive remarks on the outcomes and the important significance of his meeting with President Xi during the G20 Hamburg Summit. He hoped that the ruling parties of the two countries can play a positive role in improving Japan-China relations and expressed that he stands ready to work jointly with China to expand exchanges and cooperation in all areas and push Japan-China strategic relationship of mutual benefit for continuous deepening and development.
